Insoles for Flat Feet

The whole foot that comes into contact with the ground when someone is standing or walking is known as flat feet. This is often a result of a loss of arch, sometimes called a collapsed arch, which is formed by tension in the tendons of the foot, though sometimes it can be a result of anatomical differences at birth. Whatever the cause of the condition, having flat feet can be difficult and painful. Flat Feet cause the whole foot to roll inwards (known as Over-Pronation) which leads to flat foot pain. Here at WalkHero, we have a variety of insoles including shoe insoles for flat feet, a remedy to resolve uncomfortable flat feet pain.

What causes flat feet?

Flat feet are typically a genetic factor that passes from parent to child. However, flat feet can also be caused by several other factors including obesity, aging, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, and even injury. This can include injury to the foot or ankle, suffering from arthritis or rheumatoid arthritis, inflicting damage to the tibial tendon, and suffering from some types of the nervous system or muscular diseases. Insoles for flat feet are a way to work around the condition so that when walking, the action becomes more comfortable.

What injuries are caused by flat feet?

Whether you have flat feet naturally or fallen arches because of an injury or other condition, both can cause many of the same injuries and problems including tired feet, arch pain and other foot pain, ankle swelling, and overpronation. While many of these flat foot problems and injuries can be addressed easily with the right foot arch support insoles, it's better to avoid them altogether, especially if foot pain will hold you back from the daily activities or athletic pursuits you enjoy.

Flat feet can cause:

  • Tired feet – when your feet feel fatigued after you've been on them, and especially at the end of the day.
  • Arch pain & other foot pain – pain can occur over the length of the foot or in isolated areas.Typically affected are the inside of the ankle, the outer edge of the foot, plantar fasciitis, or pain in the arch itself.
  • Swelling along the inside of your ankle can make footwear uncomfortable.
  • An altered placement of the foot on the ground can cause pain in the calf, knee, thigh, hip, and lower back.
  • Overpronation, or the excessive rolling inward of the foot.

How do i relieve flat feet pain?

Strengthening and stretching exercises for the feet, calves, and ankles can help alleviate pain related to your flat feet. A weak "foot core" (intrinsic muscles of the foot) can lead to instability and injury. While we often focus on the big extrinsic muscles that support the ankle and foot (these generate most of the foot's motion), there are 11 small intrinsic muscles located entirely in the foot. These stabilize your foot during strike and push-off. They absorb load and store energy mid-stance. Most importantly, these muscles support the arch of the foot. Strengthening these muscles will allow them to better support the arch. Stretching and strengthening the arch and calves will help relieve the pain associated with flat feet in the short term. But, for long-term relief, you'll need to support your arches with insoles for flat feet.

Do flat feet need arch support?

Most people might assume that all cases of flat feet would benefit from arch support. And while most adults do require some sort of arch support for flat feet, sometimes, usually in pediatric cases, arch supports are not recommended. The most important step to take is to see a doctor who can help you determine your best treatment path. If arches are recommended, there are a variety of options on the market and an expensive custom orthotic is not always necessary. Insoles for flat feet like the one developed by WalkHero® cost you less and do wonders for pain relief.

500 miles and still feeling good

These work just as well as the other brands. I walk 13 to 15 miles in a work day. I'd be miserable without them.

Aching feet? This IS the remedy!

My sister bought Hokas and was disappointed. Her feet were hurting so bad after work. I noticed there was no arch support in her shoes and I see her arches are collapsed when she walks. I had an extra pair of these and she tried them out. The next day she was so happy her feet felt SO good, she couldn't believe it. That was a year ago and she's still wearing them. My husband tried them because he has plantar facitis. They keep his feet pain free and has bought multiple sets. Excellent product! A++++
